Eastatoe Falls, located behind a private home in Rosman, NC is an exquisite waterfall! I love the fact that people who live in the house in front of the falls, allow people to park in their backyard just to view the cascade. It’s a well-known fact that many waterfalls, which are located on private property, aren’t accessible to the public. Every time I visit Eastatoe, I ask myself if I could allow strangers to circle my home just to visit a waterfall. Even today, I’m still not sure how I’d answer that question. The best I can offer is a huge THANK YOU to that family for allowing the public to visit the cascade.

It had been over 4 years since I last visited Eastatoe Falls and I was pleasantly surprised to find a set of steps leading down to the base of the falls! Not only do these people welcome visitors, they’ve made it easy to reach the base of the falls. Photographers like me welcome an easy way to shoot the cascade. I have “bushwhacked” (schlepped) down to many waterfalls on my tailfeathers. Eastatoe requires neither exertion nor climbing to reach & photograph the cascade. Kudos to this generous family who allow us to enjoy their backyard secret rather than prohibiting access.

Pets are welcome but must be kept on a leash. Basically, if you treat this waterfall and the surrounding property like your own, you’ll be less likely to leave trash behind or ruin any piece of this wonderful waterfall. Leave no trace!!
I like to combine “roadside” waterfalls in a single outing. Combine Eastatoe with Whitewater Falls, East Fork Falls, or any other cascade in the immediate area. Knowing that East Fork Road connects with US 276 near Connestee Falls, you could also swing by that falls for another shot.
